Dr. THAM Seng Kong

GROUP CEO, CHIEF SCIENTIST

PhD. , MD (PRC)

Dr. THAM earned his Bachelor of Medicine from Xiamen University, Doctor of Medicine (MD) Integrated Chinese Medicine & Western Clinical Medicine (Oncology) from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM) and Doctor of Medicine (PHD) in Biomedical Engineering. 

He is involved in ongoing extensive research on anti-aging cellular therapy since 2006. He works very closely with his Swiss and Asian counterparts in advancing the human understanding of cellular therapy and is eager to share his experiences in this field.

He also actively participates in cancer research. One of his important scientific breakthroughs is the discovery of penetrating tyrosinase inhibitor to reduce the production of melanin for skin beauty and whitening. He also described in his recent publication on the successful construction of retroviral transfection system that could be developed as a means of gene therapy for hepatic carcinoma.

Dr. Tham as Group Chief Executive Officer and Group Chief Research Scientist will be the main personality leading and driving the ALPS Group to greater heights towards recognition as a global biotechnology company serving humanity.

Dr. Heilly Chong

VICE PRESIDENT / HEAD OF SCIENTIST

BSc (Hons.) in Biochemistry/ Biotechnology (UM), PhD in Biochemistry/ Biotechnology (UM)

Dr. Heilly received her PhD (Biochemistry/Biotechnology) in 2005 from University of Malaya. In the same year, she joined Malaysia’s first biopharmaceutical company as Senior Research Scientist. Since then her research and industrial experiences grew in many disciplines. She has over 15 years of biotechnology research experiences which includes (but not limited to): biologics (monoclonal antibody) drug development; antibody/protein engineering; assay/diagnostic development; molecular biology (high expression system in mammalian cells), cell culture technology (establishment of production cell line, CHO platform), cell characterization & banking, bioprocess/biomanufacturing (upstream/downstream), CGTP manufacturing (CAR-T).

She is also well versed in the cGMP, cGLP & cGCP regulatory requirement. Previously, she has also been actively involved (and completed) in several MOSTI-approved R&D projects which in total received over RM3 Million worth of research grants. She has written/co-written many papers which has been published in international journals. She is also GCP certified by MOH (NPRA).

Dr. ZAHIAH binti Mohamed Amin

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MYGENOME MOLECULAR INSTITUTE

BSc in Biotechnology (UPM), MSc in Food Biotechnology (UPM), PhD in Cancer Biology and Oncology (UPM)

Dr. ZAHIAH graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia as Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology, Master of Science in Food Biotechnology and Doctor of Philosophy in Cancer Biology and Oncology. She has vast experience in the areas of cancer biology, immunology, cell culture and virology. 

Dr. ZAHIAH is also knowledgeable in the cancer research study and pre-clinical cancer research trial project management. She is driven with passion for cancer research and devoted to every science aspect including bench work, educating and scientific research presenting. Throughout her years of research, she gained in-depth knowledge in cancer development and potential vaccine treatment for cancer patients in the future.

Also, through Good Practice interpersonal skills, she received an award as the “Best Oral Presenter” on the Emerging of Infectious Diseases, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Dr. Sajjarattul Nurul NADIA Asyura

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MYGENOME MOLECULAR INSTITUTE

BSc in Microbiology (UPM), PhD in Cancer Biology & Oncology (UPM)

Dr. Sajjarattul Nurul NADIA Asyura graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia as Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Microbiology (2012) and Doctor of Philosophy in Cancer Biology and Oncology (2017).

She has gained 5 years working experience as a graduate research assistant and teaching assistant in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia; in the areas of cancer biology, molecular biology and toxicology. Post-graduation, she gained 2 years and 7 months of working experience as a researcher in the Animal Science Research Institute, Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development (MARDI), Serdang. Overall, her research mainly focused on the para-clinical study of anti-tumour of herbal extracts in the leukaemia- lymphoma-bearing rats. Dr. NADIA has valuable experience in cancer research study and project management, particularly in the para-clinical trial for cancer research. She has a strong passion for cancer research and an overall enthusiast in every aspect of science including bench work, project management, educating and presenting scientific research.

During her professional career, she gained in-depth knowledge of the different mechanism in cancer development as evidenced by 6 scientific publications in the highly reputable journal and 13 scientific proceedings. She has excellent skills in managing research professionals as evidenced by four interdepartmental and one institute collaboration in leukaemia-lymphoma research. She also received an award as the best presenter in the clinical pathology at Asian Veterinary Pathology Congress, Bangalore, India. With her professional skills, Dr. NADIA is responsible for developing and managing research and laboratory protocols in the MyGenome Molecular Institute as a modern and well-managed genome institute facility in Asia.

Dr. NORHAZWANI binti Mohd Suhimi

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MYGENOME MOLECULAR INSTITUTE

BE (Hons) in Biochemical Engineering, MSc in Chemical & Process Engineering, PhD in Chemical & Process Engineering

Dr. Norhazwani graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Biochemical Engineering, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical and Process Engineering. Her research specialised in food process technology, mainly in producing halal hydrolysed collagen and gelatin.

She is also experienced in analysing molecular weight of protein by using SDS-Page Electrophoresis method and knowledgeable about size exclusion chromatography. Prior to this, Dr. Norhazwani had served with one of the subsidiary company of UKM Technology Sdn. Bhd. for 2 years where she gained hands on skills experiences in planning and monitoring activities in production lines for producing Halal Hydrolysed Collagen product. Besides that, she was also involved in technology transfer as one of the engineers to commercialise halal hydrolysed collagen product from small scale to industrial scale and part of research team for project “Novel Intensified Process for Production of Gelatine and Hydrolysed Collagen from Agriculture Resources” which won the Silver Medal for Biolnno Awards 2010 at BioMalaysia 2010.

Dr. Nurul Syahirah binti AHMAD SAYUTI

B. Clinical Laboratory Science (Hons) (UKL), Master of Science (Clinical Pathology) (UPM), PhD in Clinical Pathology (UPM)

Nurul Syahirah binti Ahmad Sayuti graduated from Universiti Kuala Lumpur in Bachelor of Clinical Laboratory Science in 2015, Master of Science (Clinical Pathology) from Universiti Putra Malaysia and completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Pathology.

For the past 5 years, she has gained experience as a graduate research fellowship and research assistant at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Universiti Putra Malaysia), Animal Research Complex (Universiti Sains Malaysia) and Animal Livestock Research Centre (MARDI). She has experienced in animal studies includes toxicology, leukaemia-lymphoma and bone-implant surgery. Throughout her years of research, she has presented her research paper in local and international proceedings such as in ASEAN Scientific Veterinary Pathology (Bangalore and Hanoi) and has won the best presenter (ASVP, Bangalore) and ‘Young Research Scientist’ (ICMST, Malaysia). To date, she has published in three international conferences and published several papers. Particularly, she is interested in molecular study on eliciting the therapeutic agents in various diseases especially cancer diseases.

Robiatul Azilah binti ZAINUDIN

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MYGENOME MOLECULAR INSTITUTE

Dip. In Medical Laboratory Technology, B. in Bioinformatics (Hons), MSc in Bioinformatics and System Biology

Robiatul Azilah Zainudin graduated with a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from Advanced Management and Technology Centre in 2007, Bachelor in Bioinformatics from Management & Science University in 2010 and Master of Science majoring in Bioinformatics and Biology System from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2021. Her research project focused on the establishment of inducer-free yeast expression system for the production of heterologous enzyme using latest advancement of bioinformatics approach.

Throughout her working experience as a bioinformatician in ACGT Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Genting Plantation) and Quantum Beez Sdn Bhd (UPM-MTDC) since 2010, she has constructed a mathematical prediction model and semantic database in a collaborative project “Dengue Genome: Dynamics of Dengue Viruses Antigenic Epitopes in Recurring Dengue outbreaks” with University of Malaya and University of Science. She has also involved in a poster presentation entitled “A Simulation Comparison of Alignment-based and Alignment-free Algorithms for Phylogenetic Tree Construction of Ganoderma and other Basidiomycetes” in The Malaysian Palm Oil Board International Palm Oil Congress (PIPOC 2013).

In 2016, she was selected under Graduate Research Fellowship to assist and conduct Biochemistry classes in Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, UPM. She has also successfully submitted the genome of Meyerozyma guilliermondii strain SO in The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database which were published in several research journals. Her specialization is in whole genome shotgun (WGS) pipeline, for both wet and dry laboratory.

ZEINABsadat Masoudian

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MYGENOME MOLECULAR INSTITUTE

BSc in Biology (Azad University), MSc in Biotechnology (UM)

Zeinabsadat Masoudian holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from Azad University, Iran and Master of Science in Biotechnology from University of Malaya (UM) with specialisation in Bioprocess Engineering to develop recovery and purification process of proteins.

Upon graduation, Zeinab served as a researcher in Stem Cell Technology at the dental faculty in UM with areas of focus including Gene expression profiling, microRNA and conditioned media of primary Mesenchymal stem cell derived from Human Wharton Jelly, Dental Pulp and Periodontal Ligament.

Prior joining MyGenome, she has served the Ministry of Finance Incorporated Biopharmaceutical Company- Inno Biologics Sdn Bhd as an executive planning position where she was responsible for transferring technology of Biosimilar monoclonal antibodies (Mabs)’s production, registration and reporting in accordance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

She also received an award as the “Best Poster Presentation’ at the 19th Biological Sciences Graduate Congress, National University of Singapore (NUS).

Ms. Nur Ainaa Nabihah binti MOHD GHAZALI

CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGIST, MYGENOME MOLECULAR INSTITUTE

BSc Resource Biotechnology (Hons) (UNIMAS), MSc Medical Microbiology (UPM)

Nur Ainaa Nabihah graduated from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) with a Bachelor of Science (Resource Biotechnology) and completed her Master of Science in Medical Microbiology from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Prior joining MyGenome, Ainaa worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in UPM. Her Master’s research mainly focused on developing a specific conjugation inhibitor containing high poly-unsaturated fatty acids for preventing antibiotic-resistant gene transfer.

Throughout her research study, Ainaa collaborated with a few other international researchers from University of Western Australia, University of Waterloo and Ehime University. She also attended Molecular Pathology course on the Management and Technical Requirement for ISO15189 Medical Molecular Testing organised by National Institutes of Health (NIH), Ministry of Health Malaysia.
