Prof. DING Kexiang

RESEARCH PROFESSOR

Ding Kexiang, male, 56 years old, national expert, professor, post-doctorate. He is currently a professor and chief expert on research topics at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine of the Southern Medical University of China (see the school’s official website www.smu.edu.cn for details); at the same time, he also serves as the American Institute of Biomedical Technology in Virginia, USA ( ABTRI) Director of molecular medicine laboratory and chief professor and chief scientist. Before studying in the United States (before 1999), he served as a visiting doctoral tutor at the Basic Medical College of Bethune Medical University and a member of the echelon of doctoral tutors at the Institute of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Sun Yat-sen Medical University. When studying in American universities, he was a senior visiting research scholar and visiting professor at the University of Virginia, a visiting scholar at Harvard University, and a postdoctoral research scholar at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine.

Prof.Ding won the title of “National Young and Middle-aged Scientific and Technological Experts with Outstanding Contribution” awarded by the Chinese government in 1992 and won the “Special Government Allowance Expert” awarded by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in the same year (1992) special government subsidy issued by the State Council; moreover, they were also awarded the “First China Young Scientist Entrepreneurship Award” by the China National Youth Federation, the “Bioengineering Expert” awarded by the Chinese People’s Association, and the formerly recognised research professor of the National Science and Technology Commission of China , The research professor appraised by the Chinese Academy of Management Sciences, and the “6th Top Ten Outstanding Young People in Guangzhou (ranked at the top of the list of top ten outstanding young people according to personal achievements)” awarded by the Guangzhou Municipal Government of China. Awarded “Top Ten Rookie of Science and Technology”. Note: Both China’s Guangzhou City and Wuhan City are China’s super international cities (super-large cities), and their urban populations exceed 10 million people.

In 2006, he was specially appointed as the lifelong chief scientist by the International Nutrition and Hygiene Research Institute in Toronto, Canada, and as the lifelong honorary chairman by the Canadian International Institute of Health Sciences and Technology. In 2003, he was awarded the lifelong honorary chairman by the North American Beauty and Health Association in Vancouver, Canada. Specially appointed as a visiting professor and academic advisor by Tai E College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Quebec, Canada; and has been the chairman of the expert committee of the Organising Committee of the Southeast Asian Regional Medical Aesthetic Conference since 1995; Counselor, expert committee member of CIDESIC SECTION in Hong Kong, academic adviser of Taiwan Free Radical Biomedical Research Center; concurrently serves as vice chairman of China Anti-aging Science and Technology Society, expert committee member of China Health Care Association, vice chairman of China Beauty Industry Association, etc .; on Free Radical Biomedicine, editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Gerontology, the most authoritative academic journal of Chinese geriatrics, executive editor-in-chief and deputy editor of Chinese classic medicine “Chinese Anti-aging Medicine” medical Journals of Science, Practical Geriatrics, Modern Geriatrics, Microcirculation, Chinese Cosmetics Magazine, Chinese Science and Beauty Journal, American Toiletries Magazine (Chinese version), Taiwan Free Radical Biomedical Journal, etc. Magazine’s expert editorial board and other posts.

Dr. Zuo Xia-Lin

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, CELESTIALAB

BSc. (PRC), MD. (PRC), PhD. in Medicine (Pharmacology) (PRC)

Prof. Zuo graduated from Southwest China Medical University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in 2007. He also graduated from South China University of Medical Pharmacy with a degree in medical in 2010. Besides, he graduated with a doctorate in Medicine from Southern Medical Pharmacology in Jun 2013.

Prof. Zuo had hosted the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Project and China Post-doctoral Science Foundation projects. He had also participated in the China National Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong province and China Natural Science Foundation research project of Guangzhou city which is a scientific and technological research. Prof. Zuo participated in publishing more than 10 papers of thesis; he is also the first author who has published SCI thesis for 8 papers.

Prof. Zuo has also participated in 25 patency applications of which 12 of them is related to invention patency. He had won the national doctoral research scholarship in 2012 and “Hong Kong Scholar” award in 2016.

Dr. TAN Jun Jie

Dr. TAN Jun Jie graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2007 majoring in Biomedical Sciences (First class) and obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Oxford (UK) in 2011 with his study in Cardiosphere-derived stem cells and regenerative medicine.

He was also a Visiting Research Fellow in King’s College London in 2014 and a postdoctoral research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School (US) in 2016.

He was awarded the excellent service award in 2015 by Universiti Sains Malaysia and received the recognition for molecular medicine with the ‘Young Investigator Award’ twice (in 2013 and 2015); for his work in harnessing bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells for enhancing c-kit cardiac stem cell functions.

Dr. TAN is currently serving Universiti Sains Malaysia at Advanced Medical and Dental Institute in Kepala Batas, Penang, as a senior lecturer to continue his research venture on heart tissue engineering and regeneration using human-derived induced pluripotent stem cells. He is also looking into the concept of re-utilising the native extracellular matrix scaffold in organ from cadaveric donor as the blueprint with preserved architecture for homing cellular blocks to make engineering functional organ possible.

His current work focuses on derivation of proepicardial cells, sinoatrial-like pacemaker cells and ventricular cardiomyocytes from iPSCs to their potential in therapeutic applications.

Dr. TAN Shi Wei

Dr. TAN Shi Wei graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She proceeded to delve deeper in her research studies gaining her Master’s degree & PhD in Immunobiology.

She has extensive and varied research experience, obtained several awards; 3rd International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO) School of Neuroscience, Monash University, 3rd International Neuro Malaysia Symposium, & ‘Gift Her with Life’ Education Grant (MMICARE). In her professional career life, she has numerous publications & papers on mesenchymal stem cells, bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells/ Cell Immunology/ Immunopharmacology / Neuroinflammation.

Dr. Veronica Sainik Ronald

Veronica Sainik Ronald is currently a Senior Scientist at CelestiaLab. She obtained her Ph.D at Graduate School Of Biomedical Sciences under Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Department in September 2014 under Twinning Program supported by Advanced Dental Medicine Promotion in Southeastern Asia. 

She has been Post-Doctoral Researcher at Hiroshima University, Japan with collaboration between Kyoto University, Tissue Engineering Centre UKMMC and Department of Physiology, UKMMC. She received Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarships. 

She also participated and established her networks/collaborations with national and international research institutes and universities. Veronica actively involved in scientific/research activities as a reviewer, invited speaker, judge/scientific committee and facilitators. 

She had experience in clinical trial project for leukaemia patient, Cancer Biobank projects, writing research proposals, conducted short Neuroscience project and assisting graduate student from national and international university. 

Her research interests on molecular biology and biochemistry, stem cell, tissue engineering, biomaterial, cancer, natural product and neuroscience. Moreover, she also versed more than 10years in the operation of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and familiar with cell and gene therapy regulations. 

Currently, she appointed as a senior scientist cum research scientist at CelestiaLab.

Dr. Pukana a/p JAYARAMAN

Pukana Jayaraman is a PhD graduate in regenerative medicine from Universiti Malaya. She completed her studies in 2017 with a number of research papers. Prior to this she has completed her Master of Health Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2010 and Bachelor in Biomedicine from University College of Technology & Management Malaysia in 2006. Her research background includes regenerative medicine, molecular biology, life sciences and her interest in stem cells research has brought her to contribute her skills and experience in quality control of stem cells production. Apart from academic, she has experience as a lecturer in biomedicine in Jakarta and quality control in a stem cell manufacturing industry. She is an ambitious person with interest in molecular biology and animal research studies.

She has attended two different symposiums in International Society of Stem Cell and Research (ISSCR) Sweden and Stem Cell Society Singapore (SCSS) upon completing her studies.

Dr. Benjamin GEORGE Jr is the eldest son of Dr. Benjamin GEORGE Sr. He attended National University of Ireland (NUI), and was conferred his MB.BCh.BAO, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Obstetrics and simultaneously received his LRCP & SI, Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in Dublin in 1983. In 1990, he received his postgraduate degree at the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Edinburgh in Scotland, one of the oldest surgical fellowships founded in 1505 by King James IV that fosters the highest standard of surgical practice.

Dr. GEORGE Jr. started his illustrious career at the Birch Hill Hospital in Rochdale, England, initially as a House Officer in General, Vascular Surgery and later Renal Medicine. He went on to become the Senior House Officer at the internationally recognised Royal Preston Hospital, where he was a Doctor in General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

He is currently Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur and George Plastic Surgery Clinic. He is also a visiting Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Pantai Cheras Medical Centre. Armed with more than 30 years of experience as a doctor in various fields and more than 22 years specialising in plastic surgery, Dr. GEORGE Jr. is undoubtedly a well sought-after doctor, having served in many outstanding hospitals, both internationally and locally. Local television networks have on numerous occasions tapped on his expertise to speak on plastic surgery.

Dr. GEORGE Jr. was bestowed an Honorary Fellowship in 1995 at the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AM/FAMM). He also obtained his Diploma in Psychology, specialising in counselling at the Lee Community College in Singapore, the Best Private College for Psychology and Counselling programmes cited by Edupoll.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Basmullah Yusof (MMC Registration No.: 28085) is a certified family doctor with over 30 years of experience as a government and private medical officer. He holds professional degree in Doctor of Medicine (MD) from University Sains Malaysia, Master of Science from University Putra Malaysia in Emergency Response & Planning (MSc. ERP) and Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cyberjaya (UoC). He has more than 12 years of experience working in an educational and university setting and holds a certificate as Diving Medical Officer (DMO) from Malaysia Armed Forces Health Services (MAFHS).

Prior to joining ALPS Medical Centre, Asst. Prof. Dr. Basmullah served as the Deputy Director of Centre for Disaster & Military Medicine (DMM), DRM Head & Course Coordinator, and Coordinator Officer for  Territory Army Comp. 515 in the University of Cyberjaya (UoC).

Asst. Prof. Dr. Basmullah is involved in various professional organizations and uniformed bodies such as MERCY, Islamic Medical Association (IMARET), Public Service Department (JPAM), Askar Wataniah Kompeni 515 and Pengakap Malaysia. He is also actively involved in various humanitarian mission and medical aid teams at home and abroad.

Since March 2020, Asst. Prof. Dr. Basmullah also contributed as medical frontliner of COVID-19 for CPRC (MOH) / IMARET / UoC and is still offering his services for the country in the National PPV such as in PPV PWTC, PPV KLCC, Private clinics and others.

He is also the Chairman of Selangor CURE (Selangor Community Response & Relief Team) which is now active in carrying out humanitarian activities in Selangor due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr. Siti Aminah PAWANCHIK

Dr. Siti Aminah PAWANCHIK, graduated from University Sains Malaysia with a degree in Doctor of Medicine (MD). She holds a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM). She is fully certified by the Malaysian Ministry of Health as an Aesthetic Medical Practitioner (Letter of Credentialing & Privileging) since 2018.

Dr Siti is a member of the Society of Anti-Aging, Aesthetic and Regenerative Medicine Malaysia (SAAARMM), Malaysian Society of Aesthetic Medicine (MSAM), American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM). Well experienced in the aesthetic field, she had performed numerous aesthetic procedures such as dermal filler and botulinum toxin injection, lasers, light therapy, non-surgical facelift, hair treatment etc with great success. She had also undergone special training on body sculpturing surgery in Korea. Her special interest is in anti-aging and cell therapy.

Ms. Rachel SIOW

Clinical Dietitian

Ms. Rachel is a dietitian who graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Bachelor of Dietetics with Hons in the year 2018. Rachel served the clinical training in HUKM for in-patient and out-patient and HKL for special units, which usually handles diabetics, abnormal lipid profile patients and gave talks to gestational diabetes mothers. Rachel was work as a nutrition advisor in the infertility centre and gave consultation to couples for diet advice.  Rachel also a member of the Malaysian Dietitian Association.

Besides, she continues to pursue and completed the Nutrigenomics course in the year 2020. Now, she provides individualized dietary recommendations based on the individual’s genetic report, able to present comprehensive consultation.
